Life Update – New Job and Grad School

Hello and welcome back to the blog. I wanted to share some reflections and fun news: I got my first corporate job! I will be working as an Instructional Design Assistant for the graduate school/seminary branch of Bethel University – where I got my undergrad.

It’s been a long process to get this job. I began seriously job hunting at the beginning of 2021, after finishing college in 2020. I did have my menial job at MegaBox for a year and a month. It was nice to have something to do and make good money during such a strange year, but I knew this wasn’t a career position. I am grateful that I had such a learning experience there, but I am so ready to start the next phase of my life.

Part of this next phase does include graduate school, but not in the way I had planned. I had been accepted to a program at Concordia St. Paul, but I realized it wasn’t the best fit for me. The online format isn’t ideal for my learning style. and the courses didn’t actually cover what I wanted to study. I’m currently considering beginning at St. Cloud State in the spring, but I have time to explore my options and find the perfect fit.

Both job hunting and grad school research have been important learning processes, especially in helping me sharpen my discernment. I didn’t initially know what to look for in either, so I was confused and overwhelmed. As I’ve gotten clearer about what I want from continuing education, I can better weed out the programs that don’t align with this vision.

It’s been a long transition period between college and true adulthood, but I’m grateful for this time to get to know myself and I cannot wait to see what happens next. I’ll catch you on the flip side.
