Little Women is one of my favorite books/movies of all time. It tells the story of the four March sisters and their lives in Civil War-era Massachusetts. The story follows the sisters through many joys and sorrows over many years. The novel Pilgrim’s Progress is explicitly referenced as a parallel throughout the story, lending an authentically spiritual air to this family tale. The four sisters are endearing and unique in their own way, and Mrs. March keeps the family together until her husband’s return from the battlefield. Each sister is unique and each journey is heartbreakingly beautiful, particularly the life of third sister Beth March. Angels are never long for this world, and the movie poignantly illustrates this. Overall 10/10 for values, cast, and clean plot. Make this the next pick for family night; i doubt you’ll regret it.
